The Weeknd is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, but he performs under the stage name The Weeknd.

The Weeknd gained popularity in the early 2010s with his mixtapes, which he released independently online. His unique sound, which blended elements of R&B, soul, and electronic music, quickly gained him a large following and critical acclaim.
