Vincent Gordon is a Jamaican-born trombonist who is best known for his work with the legendary reggae band, The Skatalites. He was born on February 18, 1949, in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in a musical family. His father, Leonard "Sparrow" Gordon, was a well-known trumpet player and bandleader, and his mother played piano and sang.

Vincent Gordon started playing the trombone at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already a skilled musician. He played in a number of local bands in Jamaica before joining The Skatalites in the early 1960s. The Skatalites were a group of top-notch Jamaican musicians who played a fusion of ska, jazz, and R&B, and were responsible for creating the sound that would become known as reggae.

Gordon's trombone playing was an integral part of The Skatalites' sound, and he became one of the band's most prominent members. He played on many of the band's classic recordings, including "Guns of Navarone," "Eastern Standard Time," and "Christine Keeler."

In addition to his work with The Skatalites, Vincent Gordon has also worked with a number of other reggae and ska musicians, including Toots and the Maytals, Bob Marley, and Lee "Scratch" Perry. He has recorded several solo albums as well, including "Outta Mi Yard" and "Freedom Serenade."
