David Madden is a Jamaican trumpet player who is best known for his work with the legendary reggae band, The Skatalites. He was born on May 4, 1948, in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in a musical family. His father, Richard "Dirty Harry" Madden, was a well-known saxophonist who played with many of the top bands in Jamaica during the 1950s and 1960s.

David Madden started playing trumpet at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already an accomplished musician. He played in a number of local bands in Jamaica before joining The Skatalites in the early 1960s. The Skatalites were a group of top-notch Jamaican musicians who played a fusion of ska, jazz, and R&B, and were responsible for creating the sound that would become known as reggae.

Madden's trumpet playing was an integral part of The Skatalites' sound, and he became one of the band's most prominent members. He played on many of the band's classic recordings, including "Guns of Navarone," "Eastern Standard Time," and "Christine Keeler."

In addition to his work with The Skatalites, David Madden has also worked with a number of other reggae and ska musicians, including Bob Marley, Burning Spear, and Sly and Robbie. He has recorded several solo albums as well, including "Jamaican Memories" and "Reggae Trumpet."
