Justin Bieber

🇨🇦 London, Ontario
  • Born
    March 1, 1994
Justin Bieber was one of the most buzzed-about teen idols of the digital age, outgrowing his early puppy-love fare and a series of media controversies to resurface as an adult pop hitmaker.

Canadian-born Bieber rose to notoriety at a young age when his mother began posting videos of his amateur performances to YouTube. He developed a cult following among pre-teen girls across North America, and in short order his YouTube clips racked up millions of plays, catching the attention of talent manager Scooter Braun. Bieber released his debut single "One Time" in 2009, and his debut album, My World 2.0, was an instant hit the following year, boosted by the hit "Baby," at the time one of the most-watched music videos in YouTube history.

Like many young celebrities thrust into the spotlight, Bieber grappled with the pressures of fame and the challenges of growing up in public, and while the singer always had his share of detractors, media and fan backlash mounted over time in response to Bieber's increasingly erratic behavior. After an extended period out of the spotlight, he resurfaced in 2015, scoring a number one hit with the single "Sorry," followed by the comeback LP Purpose. The chart-topping Changes appeared in 2020, generating a pair of Top Five singles, "Yummy" and "Intentions," and a year later, Bieber debuted at number one with Justice.
