Wally Traugott was an American mastering and lacquer-cutting engineer. Wally or Wly was always credited in the runout grooves of the record, usually alongside the Mastered by Capitol stamp.
Wally had a recording career as a fiddle player in his native Canada during the 1950s and 1960s. After disillusionment with the Canadian recording industry he moved to the U.S. where he famously worked for Capitol Records' Capitol Mastering subsidiary starting in the late 1960s until the mid-1990s. Wally mastered a wide variety of music from Top 40 Rock and Pop to the Beastie Boys.
Wally Traugott passed away December 3rd, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona.
