Don Griffin was primarily known for his contributions to The Miracles and Anita Baker. As the younger brother of Billy Griffin, the lead singer of the post-Smokey Robinson version of the The Miracles, Don Griffin played a pivotal role in the band's transformation in 1974. Joining forces with young funk musicians, they revamped the group's sound, infusing it with a contemporary dance and R&B style. Griffin played guitar in The Miracles' double-platinum album, "City of Angels," and its hit single, "Love Machine."

Following the band's dissolution, Griffin was in the dance band Madagascar, signed by Clive Davis to Arista Records in 1981 with the single "Baby Not Tonight." Subsequently, he rejoined his brother Billy, contributing as a touring guitarist on Billy's solo endeavors and collaborating on the platinum single "Hold Me Tighter in the Rain."

In 1986, Don Griffin's musical journey took another turn when he was enlisted by Anita Baker as her rhythm guitarist and featuring on the album "Rapture."
