Jr. Walker & the All Stars

  • 🇺🇸 Battle Creek, MI
  • Years Active
    1961 - 1995
Junior Walker and the All Stars are celebrated for their Motown Records hit "Shotgun," one of the grittiest R&B records the label ever produced.

Saxophonist Walker formed the All-Stars in the mid-1960s, and the outfit's music was characterized by his distinctive, soulful playing style. Walker took a rare vocal turn on 1965's "Shotgun," which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song's driving rhythm and Walker's fiery saxophone performance made it an instant classic.

Walker and the All Stars scored several more hits in the years ahead, including "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)," "Hip City" and "Gotta Hold On to This Feeling." The All Stars disbanded in the late 1970s, but Walker continued to perform and record until his death in 1995.
